In class we learned a lot about humor. I thought that being funny was something you were born with but it looks like you can plan it. and apparently there are many forms of it... who knew! But the one that struck me was the theater of the absurd. When we read the play The American Dream it was really confusing to me because there seemed to be no plot. Then I understood what theater of the absurd was, it was really well absurd.
The in class essay structure we did on the prompt really scared me to be honest. If thats on the AP exam count me out! I am totally not prepared for that. I'm going to have to work on that a lot.We went through it all so fast and it seemed really complicated. But I guess with enough practice i might be able to do it! I'm not sure yet thought,
The literary movements were kind of fascinating. seeing what people were inspired by at specific times in our history. All of the themes and heros of the writing went along with the time period. Or maybe the time period went along with the writing? Who knows.

Hi Emily,
ReplyDeleteI really loved the voice that you used in this post. I liked how you connected what you felt to the topics that we discussed in class. However, I think that you could use some more specific examples like what kind of literary movements were the most fascinating? What was hard about the in class essay structure? Overall, I think you did a great job, but you can go in depth a little more. Nice work!
I also really like how your voice comes through in this! It really helps show how you're actually reacting to the things we do in class, not just reciting what's been going on. I agree with the close reading we did in class being difficult. I had to talk about it with other kids to really understand it, which I obviously won't be able to do on the test. Overall, great job with this! Like Julie said, just keep working going more in depth!
ReplyDeleteI actually had to guess the url of your blog to get here. Am I missing something important? It seems everyone else found it just fine.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about you, but I've never seen anyone accidentally write humor into a story ;)
I thought it was interesting how writing has changed over time. Maybe writing is affected by the time period and, in turn, criticizes the society it is in, resulting in change, which changes the writing which sparks new ideas that reform society...
